XHB Matrix Storage Robot

The storage magazine and the robot are built as one unit: a small footprint, a short deployment and production running as soon as it is placed.

In short

XHB Matrix Storage Robot, in short

What is the XHB matrix storage robot?

It is a loading unit in which the robot and the point-matrix storage magazine are one machine. Four models: XHB-D05 and XHB-S30 are the basic (zero-operator) models with fixed multi-trays; XHB-T05 and XHB-T30 are the double-layer sliding-table models with sliding dual-trays. Max. robot payload is 5 KG (XHB-D05, XHB-T05) or 10 KG (XHB-S30, XHB-T30) including the tooling end, with a max. working radius of 886.5 MM or 1350 MM. Workpieces run to ≤3.2 KG / ≤7.2 KG, ≤100 MM / ≤150 MM long and ≤60 MM in diameter, with storage of ≤28 or ≤24 pieces per layer. Matching machines in the brochure: CNC lathe, vertical machining center, ETM and CMM inspection equipment (from the company brochure).

Key features

What decides the choice

The short version, before the full specification table.

Magazine and robot in one

The storage magazine and the robot form a single unit, which keeps the footprint small and the deployment short.

Payload 5 KG / 10 KG including tooling

XHB-D05 and XHB-T05: 5 KG. XHB-S30 and XHB-T30: 10 KG. The end-effector weight, approx. 2.1 KG or 2.8 KG, is deducted from that figure.

Workpiece envelope

Workpiece weight ≤3.2 KG / ≤7.2 KG, length ≤100 MM / ≤150 MM and diameter ≤60 MM.

Storage per layer

≤28 pcs on XHB-D05 and XHB-S30, ≤24 pcs on XHB-T05 and XHB-T30; tray count 1–4, 1–3 or 1–2.

Accuracy and reach

Repeat positioning accuracy ±0.02 (D05, T05) and ±0.03 (S30, T30); max. working radius 886.5 MM or 1350 MM.

Basic model or sliding-table model

The basic models use fixed multi-trays; the double-layer sliding-table models use sliding dual-trays.

System

What the system is made of

A loading system is assembled from units; which ones are used follows from the workpiece and the process.

Robot

A robot body matching the payload class of the model: 5 KG or 10 KG including the tooling end, with a working radius of 886.5 MM or 1350 MM.

Storage magazine

Point-matrix trays inside the unit: fixed multi-trays on the basic models, sliding dual-trays on the double-layer sliding-table models.

End effector

One set comes with the unit; its weight is approx. 2.1 KG (XHB-D05, XHB-T05) or 2.8 KG (XHB-S30, XHB-T30) and is deducted from the payload.

Machine interface

The unit works with the machines the brochure lists as matching: CNC lathe, vertical machining center, ETM and CMM inspection equipment.

Machine fit

Machines this system fits

Fit is decided by the machine structure, the door, the chuck and the loading window as much as by the workpiece.

CNC lathe

Listed as a matching machine, for workpieces inside the envelope: ≤3.2 KG / ≤7.2 KG, ≤100 MM / ≤150 MM long, ≤60 MM in diameter.

Vertical machining center (VMC)

Listed as a matching machine in the brochure.

ETM

Listed as a matching machine in the brochure.

CMM inspection

Listed as a matching machine — the unit can feed coordinate measuring equipment.

Fit check

A fit assessment looks at eight dimensions: machine structure, door type, chuck design, turret position, loading window, workpiece size, machine spacing and cycle time.

Options

Configuration options

One series is built in several forms according to the machine type, the feeding method and the number of machines linked; the forms below come from the company brochure. The configuration in a project is set by the application.

Machining center robot on an overhead rail
Machining center robot on an overhead railThe robot travels on a rail above the machining centers and serves machines standing in a row.
Machining center robot on a floor rail
Machining center robot on a floor railThe robot travels on a floor rail and covers several vertical or horizontal machining centers.
Drill & tap center robot (one-to-two / one-to-three with a stacker magazine)

The form illustrations come from the company brochure. They show the structural differences between the forms and are not a commitment to one model.

Configuration

Configuration and notes

Basic model and double-layer sliding-table model

XHB-D05 / XHB-S30 are the basic (zero-operator) models with fixed multi-trays; XHB-T05 / XHB-T30 are the double-layer sliding-table models with sliding dual-trays.

What the model numbers mean

05 / 30 in the model name is the max. robot payload class (5 KG / 10 KG including the tooling end). The end-effector weight, approx. 2.1 / 2.8 KG, is deducted from that figure at selection.

Matching machines

CNC lathe, vertical machining center, ETM and CMM inspection equipment.

Load calculation

Max. robot payload includes the tooling end, so the workpiece weight that can actually be handled is the payload minus the end-effector weight, with a margin left for dynamic loads.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose an XHB model?

First check the workpiece weight and maximum dimensions against the envelope (≤3.2 / ≤7.2 KG, ≤100 / ≤150 MM long, ≤60 MM in diameter), then look at the working radius needed and the storage quantity per layer.

Does the max. robot payload include the tooling end?

Yes. The brochure marks it as including the tooling end, and the end effector weighs approx. 2.1 – 2.8 KG, which is deducted from the payload at selection.

Is the storage capacity fixed?

The model sets the upper limits for the storage quantity per layer and the tray count (for example ≤28 pcs and 1–4 trays); the actual configuration follows the workpiece dimensions and the process.

Can it work with CMM inspection equipment?

CMM inspection is listed as one of the matching machines in the brochure. The connection itself has to be assessed against the model of the measuring machine.
