In-Line Post-Machining Inspection and OK/NG Sorting | New Partner
In-line post-machining inspection: vision or electronic plug gauges inside the tending cycle, automatic OK / NG sorting and data kept for traceability.

In-Line Post-Machining Inspection
The part is measured as it comes off the machine, so rejects do not reach the next operation.
In-Line Post-Machining Inspection, in short
Machine vision or contact measurement is added inside the handling flow: the measuring device sits in the loading path and shares the robot travel, or a separate inspection station is used. Vision covers dimensions, position, appearance and presence; an electronic plug gauge covers dimensional items that need physical contact and tighter requirements, and the two can be combined. OK / NG is judged against a threshold, the parts are sorted into physically separate positions with NG parts in a separate buffer, and the results can be uploaded to MES for traceability.
Scope and typical configuration
Integration
In-line inspection (the measuring device sits in the loading path and shares the robot travel) or a separate inspection station.
Inspection methods
Machine vision (dimensions, position, appearance, presence) and contact measurement (electronic plug gauges and similar).
Judgment and sorting
OK / NG is output against a threshold and the parts go to physically separated positions; NG parts enter a separate buffer area.
Data
Results are tied to the part or batch identifier and can be uploaded to MES for quality traceability and process control.

Frequently asked questions
Does in-line inspection slow the cycle down?
The inspection motion shares the robot travel with loading and unloading, so it normally fits inside the existing cycle. Whether it affects the cycle time depends on how many items are inspected and on the measuring method.
Vision or electronic plug gauge?
Vision suits dimensions, position, appearance and presence; an electronic plug gauge suits dimensional items with tighter requirements that need physical contact. The two can be combined.
Can the inspection data go into MES?
Yes. Once the results are tied to the part or batch identifier they can be uploaded to MES.
