Three VMC650L Machines: Seventh-Axis Robot Tending with Deburring

The research configuration includes three machines and a travelling robot.

Technical application analysis. Machined components in a research configuration; three VMC650L machining centers; six-axis robot on a seventh axis with conveyors and deburring.

Reference configuration and timing

  • The research configuration includes three machines and a travelling robot.
  • CNC machining is 184 s; combined robot handling and deburring is 56 s, including 21 s deburring.
  • Adding another 21 s to that 56 s counts the same deburring twice.

Engineering evaluation

Time the complete route to each machine, including rail travel and docking. The ratio 184 divided by 56 does not show whether all three machines can be served when completions cluster.

Assign the deburring task to a defined machining window and retain an exception route for rejected parts. Giving one robot another process reduces its free tending capacity even if that task occurs outside the machine.

Selection conditions and evidence limits

This is a research-scheme interpretation rather than a customer installation. Its calculations require physical scheduling and safety validation, and rail repeatability is not finished-part accuracy.

Application questions

Is deburring additional to the reported 56 s?

No. The source includes the 21 s within it.

Why study the full travel path?

A seventh axis adds access but also travel, positioning and potential interference.
