Motor End-Cap Turning: Twin-Spindle Transfer and Gantry Design
The source record identifies a motor end-cap application and a twin-spindle turning concept.
Technical application analysis. Motor end caps; twin-spindle CNC lathe; C-46XS reference requires confirmation; gantry loading with spindle-to-spindle transfer.
Reference configuration and timing
- The source record identifies a motor end-cap application and a twin-spindle turning concept.
- Four machines, an 85 s overall cycle, a 10 s exchange and yield improvements lack traceable supporting text and are not adopted as project results.
Engineering evaluation
Start with the datum used for each face of the end cap. The transfer between spindles must preserve the required relationship between bearing fits and sealing features; gripping a finished functional surface may be unacceptable.
A useful timing study separates cutting on each spindle, door movement, gripping, clamping confirmation and reorientation. For a shared gantry, record the queue when two machines request service together.
Selection conditions and evidence limits
This is a design evaluation rather than a verified installation. A machine configuration sheet, part drawing and continuous timing record are required before quoting accuracy, output or yield.
Application questions
Should the gantry grip the finished bearing bore?
Only if the drawing and gripping trials permit it. Select contact surfaces around the functional tolerances and surface protection requirements.
What proves the complete cell cycle?
A defined start-to-start timing study covering both operations and the loader, including waiting and recovery allowances.
