EMAG VLC 250 P Shuttle Turning: Assessing One-Second Change Occupancy
The cited example permits parts up to 200 mm diameter and 80 mm high.
Technical application analysis. Short-cycle turned parts; EMAG VLC 250 P; reciprocating shuttle arrangement.
Reference configuration and timing
- The cited example permits parts up to 200 mm diameter and 80 mm high.
- The source compares approximately 6 s conventional change occupancy with approximately 1 s for this mechanism.
- Machining below 30 s describes a short-cycle application context.
Engineering evaluation
Keep the workpiece, operation and timing boundary constant in a comparison. A one-second transition from machining on one side to cutting on the other does not include all preparation performed outside that window.
Verify clearance with the actual fixture height, part and spindle space. Short-cycle operation also requires finished-part removal, chips and changeovers to keep pace with the preparation side.
Selection conditions and evidence limits
Historical comparative conditions cannot be transferred directly to a current order. An approximately 83% reduction in one auxiliary time does not mean an 83% increase in complete-line capacity.
Application questions
Is all machining fixed at 30 s?
No. The source uses a short-cycle context rather than a universal process time.
Why can exchange savings overstate capacity gains?
The exchange is only one portion of the overall cycle, and other bottlenecks remain.
